KGF, also known as FGF-7, belongs to the FGF family, which comprises 23 known members. This family of proteins plays a pivotal role in prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue regeneration by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. Specifically, KGF is a mitogen factor that targets epithelial cells and keratinocytes. It communicates its signals through FGFR 2b.
KGF contributes significantly to kidney and lung development, as well as to processes like angiogenesis and wound healing. Recombinant Human KGF (FGF-7) is an 18.9 kDa protein composed of 163 amino acid residues.
